You are working or will work with a new CAD solution, so you want/need to convert your current drawings file to the new situation. Maybe you even have "old" drawings (paper, PDF, DWF, etc.) lying around, which you would like to be able to use digitally. Converting these drawings takes a lot of time, so you would need to free up one or more people within your organization to do this.
Van Zijtveld Consulting has the solution, you provide us with the data, either 2D or 3D, and we convert the drawings into the format you require in accordance with your requirements and with your settings. Our engineering department has extensive experience in various types of CAD applications and can easily convert the drawings to your desired file format.
The method that we use is that we, together with you, roughly inventory the data to be converted, make a breakdown in complexity and then agree on a price per drawing. We always work with prices per drawing and not according to the hourly rates used by many companies. Based on our experience we are able to make a correct estimate of how long it will take to convert drawings. Because of this we dare to offer you a price per drawing, so you know in advance what the conversion of your drawing file will cost. The risks of whether this is feasible lie entirely with Van Zijtveld Consulting.
By making clear agreements in advance about what and how the conversion will take place, it is clear to both parties what can be expected and every project we have carried out to date has been successful.
To give you an idea of what we are involved in,
Project - Converting Bentley Microstation P&IDs to AutoCAD Plant 3D
Customer has hundreds of P&ID drawings in Bentley Microstation, but from a business point of view it was decided to start working with AutoCAD Plant 3D (with a module P&ID). Bentley Microstation will be shut down and the drawings would no longer be accessible.
Question from the customer, can you (Van Zijtveld Consulting) make us a proposal with what is possible, the expected duration and what the costs are.
During the inventory with the client, it appeared that the AutoCAD Plant 3D environment offered the client many more advantages (intelligent P&ID's instead of dumb 2D drawings). What the client had not yet thought about, was the setup of the complete AutoCAD Plant 3D environment. Before converting could be started, we (Van Zijtveld Consulting) first organized the configuration of AutoCAD Plant 3D together with the client and agreed that the drawings were to be divided into 4 categories.
Based on the configuration and the categories that were determined, an offer was made and within a year, the entire drawing file was converted and the client had an AutoCAD Plant 3D environment that functioned as desired.
This project resulted in the fact that the other departments within this organization also wanted to have their "old" drawing file converted. Meanwhile the "new" drawings are used extensively and the drawings are regularly consulted by the various departments. By using AutoCAD Plant 3D, the customer can now also automatically generate lists for orders, maintenance and more.
In this case the switch was from Bentley Microstation to AutoCAD Plant 3D, but of course this could also be done from regular AutoCAD to AutoCAD Plant 3D or any other solution you have ever used for generating P&ID's.
Project - Convert historical drawings (2D) to new 3D models with Autodesk Inventor
Client needs to do a conversion of a plant that was built in the early 60's and no longer meets today's requirements. Drawings at the time were all still drawn by hand and are slowly starting to fade. Also, these drawings are stored in physical form which takes up quite a bit of space and the degradation of the drawings is accelerating.
Question from the customer, can you digitize these drawings or even better convert them to 3D models, so that we can use them in the future for rebuilding, renovation, maintenance, etc.
After making an inventory of the drawings, we (Van Zijtveld Consulting) drew up a plan that reflected the requirements and wishes and the corresponding time estimate. Together with the customer we then decided to use Autodesk Inventor to generate the 3D models. The customer was already familiar with the Autodesk platform and therefore preferred Autodesk Inventor.
Subsequently, 3D models were generated from the "old" paper drawings and new derived 2D production drawings were created including assemblies and parts lists. These models and drawings are now used for maintenance and as a basis for ordering new equipment.
Van Zijtveld Consulting Engineering is at home in many markets and can carry out almost any conversion for you. If we are unable to convert your drawing file ourselves, we have several cooperating partners in our network who can support us and you as well.
